The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd (HSBC) in Bangladesh Monday launched the fifth "HSBC Export Excellence Awards" aiming to recognise and honour the exporters from Bangladesh for their contribution to the country's sustainable growth through export.
The HSBC Export Excellence Awards was announced at a press conference at a city hotel.
Andrew Tilke, Chief Executive Officer of the HSBC Bangladesh, Md Mahbub-ur-Rahman, Head of Corporate Banking of HSBC Bangladesh, and Talukdar Noman Anwar, Country Head of Communications of HSBC Bangladesh, among others, addressed the press conference.
Exporters can nominate themselves or other exporters for the awards in the title of "Exporter of the Year" in four separate categories. Five outstanding exporters will be given the award in the four categories.
To nominate for the awards, they exporters are required to fill in a nomination form that is available at the website: www.hsbc.com.bd/eea.
One of the four categories of the awards is: Exporter of the Year - RMG and Textiles: Group A- annual export turnover US$50 million or more and Group B- annual export turnover less than US$50 million.
Other three categories are: Exporter of the Year- EPZ enterprises: companies in the Export Processing Zones (EPZs) of Bangladesh, Exporter of the Year-traditional and emerging sectors: annual export turnover (non-RMG and non-Textiles) US$5 million or more, and Exporter of the Year- SMEs: annual export turnover (non-RMG and non-textiles) less than US$5 million.
Officials said that winning exporters are selected through a sophisticated process of adjudication by an independent panel of jury members based on not only the annual contribution to the national exports but also on the diversity, responsibility, sustainability and governance strengths of their respective businesses.
The bank is not involved at any stage of the winner adjudication process of this awards programme, they said, adding that HSBC Export Excellence Awards programme is open for all the exporters from Bangladesh.

Exporters can nominate themselves and also other exporters for any categories of the programme; nomination phase is open till May 21, 2014, Mr Noman Anwar said.
